Don Prynce, born Donavin Hayward, is an innovative MC and musician from Jersey City, NJ.  With clever flows and quick-witted lyrics, Don relishes the musical diversity that allows him to rap over almost any type of beat.  From up-tempo bangers that have you going crazy in the club to laid back joints you can listen to with a blunt in your mouth and a steering wheel in your hand, DP will have you rapping to the beat right along with him.

Born at Christ Hospital in 1989, Don is a lifetime resident of Jersey City, a city which he, and many of it’s fellow inhabitants, affectionately title Chilltown.

Don’s family and upbringing played a vital role in his ascension to a career in the music business.  As a child, his musical taste was largely shaped by the Hip-Hop and R&B records his father and older brothers enjoyed.  Being the youngest member of his immediate family (tied with his twin brother Dominic), Don rarely got the choose the music that was played on the family stereo.  Fortunately for his fans, Don’s father brought him up on old school R&B and classic 90’s Hip-Hop.  Artists such as the Isley Brothers, Luther Vandross, Mary J. Blige, Craig Mack and Blackstreet were in heavy rotation during Don’s early years.  As he grew up, his older brothers turned him on to the likes of Nas, Biggie, Big Pun, Mobb Deep, and N.O.R.E.

By the time he was 8, Don was writing his own bars to songs being played on the radio.  When he was 13, Don and his twin brother ran into Redman and Method Man at their uncle’s candy shop in Harlem.  The rap pioneers were extremely mellow and even joked around with the two young fans.  Equipped with his love for music and a newfound respect for two rap legends, Don knew he had to follow his heart and chase his dreams of becoming an MC.

Don spent his teenage years networking with local rappers and music creators, learning the value of hard work, and fleshing out his natural performing abilities.  The culmination of his efforts led to Don co-founding Cold Coast Music. After 4 months of musical growth, Cold Coast released Don Prynce’s debut mixtape, In My Own Words.

Since then, Don Prynce has been honing his craft hoping to add a different style and a new voice to the music industry.  With singles such as “Star”, “Turn Up”, and “Sky’s the Limit” he has been making a name for himself as a unique artist who can blend meaningful lyrics and uplifting themes without sounding corny. His Sophomore mixtape, “Dreams Work”, was released in October of 2014 and has quickly become a standout in the Jersey City area.
